Coaching Culture: Badge of Honor or Burden of Misclaim?
Coaching culture is often touted by the organization’s business, HR & L&OD leaders, and coaches as an ecosystem of coaching, practicing values, and ways of organizational life, supporting employee growth and development. This sounds quite lofty, but the reality is starkly different. Very few business leaders and HR included appreciate the nuanced practice and mindset behind this. We define coaching culture as a way of life in an organization characterized by quality conversations, multi-directional coaching and feedback, and a potent tool for cultural transformation. It’s an evolutionary journey with discernible pitstops on the way. Once an organization commits itself, the journey is more fulfilling than the lure of the destination- the holy grail of coaching culture!
1. Understand the nuances of a coaching culture and its impact on business and people.
2. Understand and describe the Coaching Evolution Model (CEM) and its four phases, distinctive characteristics, forms, and triggers.
3. Appreciate and apply the Coaching Evolution Inventory (CEI) to their current in-house and/ or client coaching practices.
4. Prioritize 2-3 elements of coaching culture to help bring the desired transformation with measurable outcomes.
