Ethics in coaching – Exploring Ethics in Responsibility to Professionalism & Society
We will discuss real cases from the ethical point of view, referring to the ICF Code of Ethics:
Section III—Responsibility to Professionalism
Section IV—Responsibility to Society
External Ethics vs. Internal Ethics through the systemic view.
Our inner system (culture, values, beliefs… our code of ethics) is inevitably affected by the external one (rules, norms, behaviours, e.g. ICF code of ethics), we are part of.
We will reflect and refresh our thinking and practice in relation to ethics in responsibility to professionalism & society and how we coaches might navigate ethical external issues & internal tensions.
The challenge of working ethically means that members will inevitably encounter situations that require responses to unexpected issues, resolution of dilemmas and solutions to problems. (quotation from “ICFCode of Ethics”).
