Artificial Intelligence, As a Coach should you Adapt or Adopt?

I’m often asked by Business Coaches working with C-Suite executives where they should begin with AI. Should they Adapt to it or Adopt it? I’ve said that given the establishment of legal frameworks like the EU AI Act they need to focus on at least following a light touch standard like the Artificial Intelligence Coaching Alliance Standard (AICAS) that promotes a Safety First mindset, specifically Ethical and Inclusive operations underpinned by a scaffolding for Trust and Safety. These should be in place before any utilisation of tools or technologies as well as competency development. They need as a minimum to follow the ‘Protection with Progression’ mantra of AICA – Protect themselves and their clients from exposure to risks of AI, and only then, Progress with its use to realise their potential or attain their strategic goals while also advancing their own professional excellence.
