Wired to Coach: Understanding and Working with Neurodivergent Clients
Neurodivergent professionals — those with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and related differences — represent a growing and often underserved coaching population. Yet most coach training programs offer little to no preparation for working effectively with this community. This session bridges that gap.
In this 60-minute experiential learning session, coaches will explore what it means to truly meet neurodivergent clients where they are — moving beyond deficit-based assumptions toward a strengths-first, identity-affirming coaching approach. Participants will examine how standard coaching models can inadvertently create barriers, and leave with concrete, ICF-aligned adaptations they can apply immediately.
Develop foundational literacy around neurodivergence, including ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and executive function differences
Identify how masking, non-linear thinking, and sensory processing impact the coaching relationship
Adapt contracting, active listening, and evocative questioning practices for neurodivergent clients
Navigate the coaching-therapy boundary with clarity and care
Apply a shame-to-self-acceptance framework drawn from Elyse's signature coaching model
This session is designed for coaches at all levels who want to expand their capacity to serve diverse clients — and who believe that difference is not a deficit.
