Mentor Coaching Is Changing: From Helpful Feedback to Professional Practice
Mentor coaching is no longer simply an experienced coach giving advice or feedback to another coach. With the new ICF Mentor Coaching Competencies and upcoming qualification requirements, mentor coaching is becoming a more clearly defined professional practice — with its own role clarity, ethical expectations, learning process, feedback standards, and competency framework. In this session, we will explore what is shifting, why it matters, and how coaches can prepare by using the ICF Mentor Coaching Competencies to bring more structure, credibility, and professional depth to their mentoring work. The session will also support coaches’ continuing professional development by connecting the new Mentor Coaching Competencies with practical application in mentor coaching practice and ICF Core Competency development.
