Mission Command in the Corporate Gray Zone
Translating Tactical Grit into Strategic Agility
My session explores how to translate high-stakes military operational discipline into corporate strategic agility to help organizations survive in highly volatile environments. I introduce participants to the architecture of Clausewitzian Friction—the invisible structural force that causes corporate execution to fail when plans meet reality.
To counter this friction, I present two core frameworks: the OODA Loop for rapid executive decision-making under stress, and Mission Command, a methodology for eliminating micromanagement by leading through intent rather than rigid checklists.
Finally, I demonstrate how to implement the After-Action Review (AAR), a tool for building psychological safety and transforming operational failures into tactical data. Ultimately, it redefines corporate risk management by teaching coaches how to build leadership systems that thrive under organizational duress.
