From Proposal to Partnership: Creating Coaching Contracts that Build Trust and Value

Clear, compelling coaching agreements are the foundation of trust and partnership. This session explores how contracts and proposals establish boundaries, clarify roles, and reflect a coach’s mindset and accountability. With over 30 years of business and academic experience, Brenda brings practical expertise and deep knowledge of the ICF Core Competencies and Code of Ethics.

Through examples, discussion, and applied exercises, coaches will learn how to structure agreements that uphold ICF standards while maintaining client ownership of goals and outcomes. The session emphasizes key components such as scope, boundaries, confidentiality, logistics, fees, and termination, showing how each element safeguards the coaching relationship. Coaches will also explore the differences between contracts and executive coaching proposals, and receive a framework they can adapt to reflect their own coaching style, brand, and ethical practice.
