Focus on your uniqueness, not your strengths!
Coaches believe in the infinite possibilities of humans and think it is their role to help the clients find and develop those infinite possibilities. Therefore, coaches are more interested in coaching their strengths than anyone else, and they often use diagnostics to find their strengths. However, the clients, who are not scholars, have various concepts of strengths. In addition, strengths and weaknesses are mentioned at the same time. The clients think they are born with strengths and weaknesses, so they are trapped in these frames and have difficulty discovering and showing their infinite possibilities.
The strength and weakness are not absolute, but relative depending on the situation and context. What coaches should aim for is to help them find their uniqueness neither the strength nor weakness. It is important to coach clients to move on to the present and future by discovering their uniqueness in their lives and acknowledging themselves as beings.
