From Individual to Collective: Rethinking Vertical Development in Teams

As part of the Diagnostics in Team Coaching Series, this session features Sue Coyne PCC ACTC and Fiona O’Connor exploring the emerging field of vertical development in teams and its implications for team coaching practice. Sue will share insights from her research into how teams may develop collective capacity for complexity, systemic awareness, and meaning-making, including the development of a team-based vertical development assessment. Together, Sue and Fiona will examine how leadership, organisational context, and system dynamics influence team consciousness and development, while inviting practitioners to reflect on how vertical development perspectives can deepen team coaching, supervision, and contracting practices.
